On a weekday, an impromptu call announced a family outing and an invitation to stop by a resort on the ocean in Montauk, New York, a favorite destination of mine in all weather. Part of the joy of Montauk was the drive and three months into the Coronavirus Pandemic, I jumped at the chance. Your vehicle can be a safe, movable extension of your home, like a pod on wheels.
Here are two brothers thrilled to recall a childhood having grown up in the waves of the majestic Atlantic, with family whom we haven’t seen since before the Pandemic. We all changed. One grew a beard. One got quiet. One grew outspoken. It was a beautiful distraction. I wondered if I could trace the feelings and show them with the lens–an odd sort of reticence.
